The final Grand Slam of the 2021 season is here, and while players aim for one of tennis’s greatest trophies, they are also battling for a big payday at the US Open.

Last year’s tournament saw its overall wallet drop due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, with fans back in the stands to cheer – and mock – the wallet has risen not only over the 2020 total, but also over the record payout of 2019.

This is how the cash is distributed:

What is the US Open Wallet for 2021?

The total prize pool for the US Open in 2021 is set at a record $ 57.5 million (all figures in USD). That’s $ 300,000 more than the pre-pandemic total of $ 57.2 million in 2019.

Last year’s tournament was reduced to $ 53.4 million due to lost revenue excluding spectators.

How much money does the winner of the US Open 2021 get?

This year the masters are earning themselves in the men’s and women’s singles $ 2.5 million. That number is $ 500,000 less than the 2020 prize money earned by winners Dominic Thiem and Naomi Osaka.

However, the funds distributed across the board have been adjusted. At the 2021 US Open Qualifier, the total payout increased 66 percent compared to 2019. (There was no qualification in 2020.)

The losers of the first round of the singles in 2021 will earn $ 14,000 more compared to 2020, while the rounds of 64th to 16th round will see an increase of between $ 14,000 and $ 17,000.

The quarter-finalists in 2021 earn the same as last year, while the total payouts for the semi-finalists and finalists will decrease by $ 125,000 and $ 250,000, respectively.

“With the US Open’s biggest return – on-site fans and full draws in all competitions – we know 2021 will be a historic year for this great tournament,” said US Open Tournament Director Stacey Allaster.

“We determined our prize money distribution round by round through an open dialogue with the players and the management of both tours. We appreciate your joint leadership in hosting the 2021 US Open Prize Fund to benefit the maximum number of players. “
